Item Description:
Vintage used 1976 Schwinn Superior. Fillet brazed. This is the largest size Superior, 26" from center of bb shell to top of seat tube (the way Schwinn measured it), 25" center of bottom bracket shell to top of top tube. Paint is rough, with many touched up areas. Decals are also in rouch condition. Chrome is decent, and looks like it will polish up fairly well. There is a broken off screw in the left rear dropout where a rack was probably mounted at some point. Headset feels rough, not sure if it is because of being adjusted too tight, lack of grease, worn, don't know. Might be usable when cleaned and lubricated, but I cannot guarantee that. Someone in the past mounted recessed nut brake calipers to the fork, and enlarged the rear bolt hole opening. I fabricated an aluminum sleeve to make up the space gap so that the proper style nutted brakes could be mounted. Please see the pic of this. Good beginning for a restoration. Please note that the fork will be removed from the frame for more compact shipping (this is already a huge frame!). I have shipped many bikes with no problems, so please know that this will be packed well for safe transit.
